An article presents tourist flow volume assessment methods widely used in foreign and Russian practice, identifies the main problems complicating the definition of tourist flow volume in the Russian regions, either inbound flow or domestic one. Author discusses the methodology of tourist flow volume assessment on the basis of comparison of the transport statistic data characterizing the volume of passenger arrivals to the region, and the statistics of tourist accommodation in hotels and other collective accommodation facilities, in the context of Moscow city.
