The shortcomings of the legislative framework with which it would be possible to regulate BIM design are considered. The domestic and foreign experience of using BIM technology has been studied, which made it possible to determine the prospects for its development in the transport industry. The key directions of elimination of the problems hindering the development of BIM modeling are revealed.
